Coffee kept hot for 12 hours….could this be true?
This week I have been road testing the Wolverine 350ml Vacuum Insulated Tumbler supplied by Image Collection (Click here to check it out).
With claims that hot drinks stored inside will stay hot for up to 12 hours and that it will hold ice for up to 24 hours I had to see for myself. Could it be too good to be true? I was on a mission to find out.
Firstly, I was really impressed with the quality and stylishness of the product. Available in either matte black (which is very swish) or natural stainless steel, an engraved or printed logo would come up looking fantastic and definitely would make a great gift. The lid fits firmly and is not fiddly to try and put on like some tumblers and with a simplistic design is really easy to clean.
The double insulation meant almost no heat transferred through the cup. While piping hot I could barely feel a raise in temperature on the outside. Fantastic news for any of you who have experienced the juggling act of trying to hold a takeaway coffee cup in one hand…doughnut (or in my case vanilla slice) in the other, trying desperately not to spill that liquid gold, and doing everything possible to protect your hands from the building heat!
But…the million dollar question…did my coffee stay warm (or better yet, hot) for 12 hours?
Unfortunately not. It was still nice and hot at the 6 hour mark but really didn’t last much longer than that. Even though it did fall short I do wonder who would sit on a coffee or mug of soup for 12 hours anyway?
When using it for cold drinks the claim is that it will hold ice for up to 24 hours. Also a pretty big claim but definitely worth testing. Well 5 hours in and I still had loads of ice and barely any had melted. By the 12 hour mark though we had a different story. Still a little bit of ice but it had mostly melted.
So…what’s the verdict?
There were just a couple of design flaws (well for me anyway) in that the lid has an open spout making it a little trickier when transporting. It also was too wide to fit in the cup holders of my car so getting hot soup to work for lunch or even taking that coffee or ice tea on the road was impossible.
Overall though I think if used as more of a desk mug than a travel mug it’s actually pretty good. I can make a coffee, get interrupted by several phone calls, an impromptu meeting and 27 emails and still come back to a piping hot cuppa. Same during the warmer months being able to sip away at an icy cold beverage throughout the day is great.
At a price point of $10.00 - $15.00 it is a higher end gift but would definitely be used time and time again leaving your brand in the minds of prospective customers and clients every day. You can’t buy that kind of advertising.
